RIDE NIPOMO ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. An equestrain trail was just added to the
Nipomo Native Garden at Osage and Camino Caballo.
It includes the entire inside perimeter of the
garden and allows passage from Pomerory Rd. to
Camino Caballo and the main Park and back. RN
coordinated with the Native Garden board to
construct the trail and we would like to send a
big thank you to all who showed up to help clear
the trail. Phil Harwick and Jim Kinninger were
especially helpful to clear the path with their
tractors and both Larry Verheilig and Herb Kandel
of the NNG board were most helpful in promoting
it. Many thanks!
2. For those of you who ride the
Woodlands/eucalyptus trees property, you may have
noticed that some fence repairs have been made
and it may have cut off your normal access into
the forest. Don't despair--they are not trying to
keep us out. Rather, they are trying to keep cars
and dumpers out. We are still allowed to ride
there and can enter at the Mesa Rd. and Camino
Caballo gate (combo 1432) when no big
construction trucks are present (best evenings
and weekends). Or you can ride down Viva (past
Mesa Rd.) toward Eucalyptus Rd. and you will see
some current breaks in the fence where you can
enter, too. Also, although the old Bannekar Rd.
gate is padlocked, just a few feet south the
fence is open. So enjoy riding there while you
can. The manager asks that we please stay away
from all truck activity during working hours. Try
to be like the coyotes: if you see work activity,
turn the other way and disappear into the forest.
3. Work has FINALLY begun on adding a bridle
fence along about 1/2 mile of Camino Caballo near
Nipomo Park. This is being funded by a grant that
we received last year from Save The Mesa and is
being organized by an Eagle Scout candidate, Adam
Wilson, with the generous help of local developer
Greg Nester. Thank you Adam, Greg and Save The
Mesa!
