Hi Mountain Road

WHERE:  Lake Lopez in Arroyo Grande to Pozo.
WHO SHOULD GO:  Cyclists, runners and hikers.
HIGHLIGHTS:  A back country road, crossing two mountain ridges and several creek beds, takes you through a chaparral and oak wilderness.
HOW TO GET THERE:  Hwy 101 to Arroyo Grande. Exit Grande Ave. Proceed East on Branch Rd. Turn right at the Y onto Huasna Road, following signs to Lopez Lake.
WHERE TO PARK:  Enter Lopez Park, pay the $4.00 fee and use the first parking lot.
TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: The first 6 miles are on a paved road. The remaining 11 is a good jeep road with a long moderate climb to Hi Mountain Summit at 2080 ft. and an easy descent to Pozo. Breakfast or lunch at the Pozo Saloon is good food in a great country atmosphere. Return using the same road. The view is really spectacular.
