 | HIGHLIGHTS: A back country road, crossing
two mountain ridges and several creek beds, takes you through a chaparral
and oak wilderness. |
 | HOW TO GET THERE: Hwy 101 to Arroyo Grande.
Exit Grande Ave. Proceed East on Branch Rd. Turn right at the Y onto Huasna
Road, following signs to Lopez Lake. |
 | WHERE TO PARK: Enter Lopez Park, pay the
$4.00 fee and use the first parking lot. |
 | TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: The first 6 miles
are on a paved road. The remaining 11 is a good jeep road with a long
moderate climb to Hi Mountain Summit at 2080 ft. and an easy descent to Pozo.
Breakfast or lunch at the Pozo Saloon is good food in a great country
atmosphere. Return using the same road. The view is really spectacular. |
