 | WHAT: Leffingwell Landing trail |
 | WHERE: South portion of San Simeon State Beach |
 | HIGHLIGHTS: There are good tidepool and bluff views. This is a good spot
for watching sea otter; gray whales are often spotted during their migratory
season. |
 | HOW TO GET THERE: Take Highway 1 to Cambrian, 21 miles north of Morro Bay.
At the traffic signal on the norther end of Cambrian, turn west on Windsor
Boulevard, cross the bridge and proceed to Shamel Park. Park along the
southern edge of the park on Windsor Blvd. |
 | TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: Sone of the trail is sandy beach; some
involves easy rock clambering. Crossing Santa Rosa Creek is no problem
during summer, but should be avoided after a storm. Trail is very narrow in
some places; some of it is under water at high tide. Windy. Picnic tables
and restrooms after 1.3 miles; trail ends at Moonstone Beach after 2 miles. |
