WHERE: Lopez Lake Trails
WHO SHOULD GO: Hikers and Equestrians
LOCATION: East of Arroyo Grande at the Lopez Lake Reservoir
HOW TO GET THERE: From Hwy 101, exit Grande Ave. east in Arroyo Grande. Drive 2 miles east on Huasna Road. Bear left onto Lopez Drive and go 8 miles to the park entrance. A fee is charged.
WHERE TO PARK: The personnel at the gate can provide a printed guide to the several trails in Lopez Recreational Area and directions to the trail head of your choice. Equestrians need to park near the locked gate at the end of the park road.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The trail wanders through oak woodland and chaparral and offers beautiful views of the lake.
TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: Maintained trails are of good footing and offer some moderate climbing. Much of the trail allows easy strolling. There are several trails of 1 mile length. The High Ridge Trail for equestrians is approximately 7 miles one way.
