From Highway 1, take the Los Osos-Baywood Park exit. Head south on South Bay Blvd, 5 miles to the T-junction at Los Osos Valley Road. Turn Right.
WHERE TO PARK: The new Sandspit Access parking is one mile past the Montana de Oro State Park entrance sign. Turn right and follow paved road to parking. Equestrians must proceed an additional mile to an area accommodating horse trailers. The horse camp area may also be used for parking.
TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: Follow the sandy trail to the beach. The Morro Bay breakwater is approximately 6 miles from the trail head and provides a comfortable lunch break area.
