WHAT: Ocean Beach County Park

WHO SHOULD GO: Hikers, Bird Watchers, Beach Combers, Equestrians and Kayakers.
HOW TO GET THERE: Hwy 101 south to Hwy 246 exit in Buellton. Travel west on 246 Approx. 25 miles through Lompoc. Exit to the right at the "Y", crossing the railroad tracks, following signs to Ocean Park. Proceed to the parking area.
TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: Four miles of quiet beach at the foot of fairly steep bluffs. Check the tide tables and hike or ride this beach at low tide to have access to the entire trail. The Santa Ynez River enters the ocean here, forming an interesting estuary well worth exploring by kayak. The railroad that outlines the beach adds atmosphere. This trail is usable all year, but can be quite windy in the spring.
CAUTION: The area is bordered by Vandenberg Air Force Base allowing no access beyond the immediate beach and estuary.
