Pismo Beach and the Butterfly Trail |

WHO SHOULD GO: Walkers, hikers and nature
lovers. |
 | HIGHLIGHTS: This walk varies
tremendously by the season, the tide, the weather and the time of day.
Watching the nesting butterflies is a unique experience. There
are millions of beautiful butterflies in the spring and the area is
quiet and peaceful during the rest of the year. |
 | HOW TO GET THERE: From San Luis Obispo take
U.S. 101 south to Highway 1; follow Highway 1 to Grand Ave. |
 | WHERE TO PARK: Park in the lot to the
west. |
 | TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: Walk north
beside the golf course and turn right at the end of the golf course.
Use the bridge into the butterfly viewing area. Exit this area
on the second bridge and proceed toward the ocean. Turning
north you may walk toward and under the pier to the end of the
beach. At low tide at the end are some small caves.
Return the three miles to your vehicle. |
