HOW TO GET THERE: Take Highway 1, 62 miles north of San Luis Obispo.
WHERE TO PARK:  There are several wide spaces off the road near the trailhead.  The trail sign is obscure in the bushes.
TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE:  The terrain is rugged, for experienced hikes and equestrians only.  The trail starts a slow, steep 600-foot climb in the first mile.  The final campsite, Lions Den Camp, is at the ridge top after a 3,000-foot climb.  The loop is about 10 miles.
