SLOPOST encourages the use of trails as a means of alternate transportation, recreation and the study of nature. To meet the challenge and accomplish our goals, we need your expertise, strength and endorsement. BACKGROUNDThe San Luis Obispo County Trails Plan was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 1991. Implementation of these plans requires direction, organization and facility construction. Recognizing the need for private support of public easements and open space, San Luis Obispo Parks, Open Space and Trails Foundation, a non-profit public benefit was formed in 1992. A board of directors and officers were chosen and a challenging set of goals was outlined. Since then SLOPOST has been active in fostering and protecting public space and easements in all parts of the County. Representatives of the CommunitiesSLOPOST supporters and volunteers number in the hundreds since its founding in 1992. A diverse number of supporters include Bill Deneen, Hank Zebly, Pam Murray, Pandora Nash-Karner and Gary Felsman, was well as community groups such as California State Horsemen's Association, Central Coast Horsemen's Association, Cycling Club, Distance Club, Pacific Coast Longriders and Nipomo Native Garden.
