REASONS TO GO: Cuesta Ridge Botanical Area

TRAIL: West Cuesta Ridge
WHO SHOULD GO: Walkers, Hikers, Cyclists and Nature Lovers. HOW TO GET THERE: Hwy 101,and turn west at the summit of Cuesta Grade.  Drive the narrow paved road three miles to the Botanical Area. WHERE TO PARK: There are several turnouts for parking along Cuesta Ridge Road.  The road has 4.1 miles for vehicle use.  Cyclists may wish to park near Hwy 101 and ride to the summit. TRAIL CHARACTER and DISTANCE: The Botanical Areas is 1,334 acres of National Forest land.  Wandering through this sargent cypress forest is so interesting you may walk several miles.  Hiking or cycling north in the ridge will take you to the Cerro Alto Campground in five miles.  It's a lovely place for lunch before heading back to the Botanical Area.
